Black Summer

We are speeding through summer, and of course I've written the ubiquitous summer skin post, but summer also makes me feel a little nostalgic for my gloomy, grumpy, goth-y teen years, and it makes me want to, in the immortal words of the Rolling Stones, “Paint it black”.
So for all of you anti-tan, anti-conformist, black loving weirdos out there, here's my BLACK SUMMER post.
BLACK EYELINER
What says “leave me alone” better than a healthy dose of black eyeliner? I love that one product can produce so many emotions and references; Cleopatra, Kate Moss, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, that guy from The Cure. Black liner gives you the freedom to broadcast your state of being with just one swipe. Now that’s powerful beauty.
EYE SOOT
This lovely eye soot can give you a range of looks, and because of the gentle sheen and it’s deep grey color, it never feels too heavy (that is unless you feel like piling it on, which I don’t discourage). Use it with a brush as a liner, use it with your fingers for a deep smokey look, or use your fingers and a brush for a more polished feeling. MASCARA
What better way to frame your moody eyeliner than with lashings and lashings of black mascara. This formula has the added benefit of thriving in humidity, so you won't get the dreaded raccoon eyes - unless it's part of your look.

NAIL POLISH
Some people like bright nail colors for summer, but some people want it to feel like October year round. This deep burgundy looks like a dark dried rose petal, perfect for painting your nails while listening to some Morrissey.
