Santen Pharmaceutical was founded in Osaka, Japan, in 1890 by Kenkichi Taguchi as Taguchi Santendo. The company launched its first eye care product, Daigaku Eye Drops, in 1899, marking its entry into ophthalmic pharmaceuticals.
