Universal Balm
WHY YOU NEED IT
A deeply nourishing salve formulated with Neroli sourced from the coastlines of Italy, Sandalwood from the organic farmlands of Hawaii and Hinoki from the woods of Japan.
WHY I LOVE IT
Balms are like moisturizing superheroes, they lock in moisture and prevent water loss in a way that water based lotions can't. The Universal Balm quickly sinks into the skin and while it was initially intended for hands, it works beautifully on the body as well as the face, leaving the skin supple, hydrated and glowing. The soft scent of Hinoki , known for it's anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, and Sandalwood, which supports elasticity, is gently transporting - just the right combination of oils to create a sensory experience.
Athena Hewett, the founder of Monastery, is obsessed with sourcing the rarest and purest botanicals, formulating her products in small batches at her studio in San Francisco. The short but powerful list of ingredients in the Universal Balm soften the skin and work to reduce free radical damage while also supporting collagen and improving skin texture. Fun fact, it's called Lab Edition 008 because this was the 8th iteration Monastery created and the one they finally felt like earned a place in the lineup. Another fun fact, it was supposed to be a limited edition, but after numerous sell-outs, they decided it should be a permanent part of the collection, and I'm so glad because it's a truly special product.
